What is the benefit of being a first-time home buyer in Maryland?

Gene:
There might be some special grant programs that you’re eligible for. You’d have to contact your lender and see if there’s anything available to you. But everybody who’s a first-time home buyer, which is anybody who hasn’t owned any residential real estate in the last three years, qualifies for a discount on the transfer charges when you purchase the property. Regardless of if you’ve owned real estate in the past, as long as if you haven’t owned anything in the last three years, you’re going to get that benefit and a discount from our wonderful state of Maryland.
